11.3 Role of religion, spirituality and philosophy of life in Dutch society

In chapter 3, I looked at the role of rsl in Dutch society. In the 21st century, rsl are still an important part of Dutch society. In principle, Rsl organisations have an impact on the self-reliance of citizens such as in the provision of welfare services, prevention of radicalisation and in the social integration of newcomers into Dutch society. Because of the increasing demand for the human need for finding a sense of purpose, the private and public ritualisation, identity formation, the contribution to social cohesion, psychological resilience and as a source of ethics, rsl have retained their social significance.
