To conclude this section 13.3.2, there are indications that the application of biodiversity offsets as part of economic development projects is accepted as best practice by businesses, governments and NGOs. However, there is a long way to go before more countries will introduce biodiversity offsets as a requirement according to law.1 Voluntary biodiversity offsets markets therefore represent a new and challenging sector.
