I would once again stress at the outset that boardroom dynamics in the Netherlands too have been deeply influenced by history and culture. This section starts by listing in telegram style some of the characteristics of Dutch culture.1 It is followed by a historical overview and a more detailed description of some aspects of Dutch boardroom culture. By their very nature generalizations do not apply to all circumstances. I have had many conversations with experienced observers and read much of what has been written on the subject to help form my observations.
