4.6.1 Introduction

In the underlying section the eight key questions are answered for the Netherlands. The Netherlands is incorporated in the research sample due to its judicial corporate governance arrangement (see section 4.6.5), innovative jurisprudence regarding its corporate governance code and its extensive research on code compliance. Other country characteristics such as the statutory two-tier rules, the tradition of takeover defences, and cultural dimensions such as a focus on dialogue and the desire for good relations between the stakeholders involved make the Netherlands a country that is of interest to incorporate in the research sample.
